New Beginnings 🌸

Jyoti Thakur's Hotel Room :

The setting sun splashed orange across the hostel room walls, dancing over a battlefield of notes, textbooks, and half-eaten packets of Maggi. In the center of the chaos stood Dr. Jyoti Thakur, hopping on one foot as she tried to untangle her earbuds and balance her phone.

“I did it, guys! Topped fifth year!” she beamed into the screen, breathless and grinning.

“Final results aagaye... aur guess what? Neurosurgery internship, confirmed!”

On the other end of the video call, her cousin Unnati, in a messy bun and oversized T-shirt, gave her a slow clap.

“Big deal, madam topper. Ab toh humein tujhe ‘Dr. Thakur’ bol na hoga ?”

Jyoti flipped her hair dramatically. “Obviously. Aaj se I'll charge per advice—100 rupees per headache, 200 for heartbreak.”

“Tab toh Atharv bhai bankrupt ho jayenge,” Unnati smirked.

Atharv, lounging in his gaming chair, raised a lazy eyebrow.

“Excuse me? I’m emotionally stable. But YOU —,” he pointed at Jyoti,

"Are the one who still cries over Grey’s Anatomy deaths.” --Atharv added

“Emotion is important for a doctor, okay?” Jyoti replied with mock indignation.

“Tum dono samjhoge kya? Tumhare dil mein sponge ki jagah stone hai.”

Unnati laughed.

“Bas internship start hote hi yeh softness gayab ho jaayegi. Especially when your mentor turns out to be one of those silent serial-killer types.”

Jyoti rolled her eyes but bit her lip nervously.

“Mentor scary ho bhi gaya toh kya..... I’ll win him over. With charm. And coffee. Mostly coffee.”

Inside her mind, though, a thousand thoughts swirled.

What if I mess up? What if I blank out in the OT? What if... they all think I’m too childish for this?

But out loud, she chirped, “Main toh OT mein dance karungi jab pehla surgery attend karungi!”

Atharv deadpanned, “Just don’t pass out while doing it. You’ll end up becoming your own patient.”

Unnati added with a grin, “Aur dekhna, jis se sabse zyada jhagda hoga..... wahi sabse special banega.”

Jyoti narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “What are you two plotting? Ye koi film nahi hai, okay?”

But they just smiled.

And miles away, in the sterile calm of the hospital she was about to join, Dr. Vijay Kushwaha slammed a file shut, irritated at an intern's careless charting. His expression was stone-cold, his words sharp. No-nonsense, no smiles.

He didn’t know it yet, but the whirlwind called Jyoti Thakur was about to turn his carefully structured world upside down.
