गुस्से में भी ऐसा बोलता है, जैसे मोहब्बत कर रहा हो।"
Even in anger, he speaks like he's still loving you.
The neurosurgery briefing room buzzed with nervous excitement and awkward small talk. Interns stood in clusters, exchanging glances and adjusting their coats like armor. Jyoti peeked inside, her heart skipping a beat.
Okay, new squad... new drama... don't call anyone uncle again. Especially if they're your mentor.
She spotted her friends Garima and Pallavi near the coffee machine.
Pallavi grinned. "Lo aa gayi Miss Topper. Ready to fix some brains, ya khud ka fuse uda degi pehle din?"
Garima giggled. "She's already met her mentor. Tum dono ko pata bhi hai kaun hai?"
Jyoti deadpanned. "Dr. Vijay Kushwaha. Mera pehla patient bhi wahi hone waale hain-mentally. Kyunki woh mujhe chhodenge nahi."
Across the room, Pranav, a sweet-faced fresher, leaned toward Pallavi. "Woh... Vijay sir thode strict hain na? Jyoti ko kaafi daanta unhone corridor mein. Thoda unfair tha."
Pallavi, a little surprised, smiled. "Tu toh bada observant nikla."
Pranav blinked. "Bas... sahi galat ka farq samajhta hoon."
(Also, he tried not to stare at her too long.)
Suddenly, the door opened with a casual push and in walked Dr. Jay Raghuvanshi-a confident, sharp-looking man in his early 30s with a charming half-smile and devil-may-care energy.
"Good morning, interns ," Jay said cheerfully.
"Main hoon Dr. Jay, your co-intern mentor, aur haan... Vijay ka better-looking dost."
The room chuckled. Jyoti raised an eyebrow. Okay, this guy's the opposite of Mr. Grump.
From the corner, Nehal, polished and prim, eyed Jyoti with a tight-lipped smile.
"Congrats, Jyoti. Topping final year must feel... incredible, and Nehal you too " she said, almost convincingly.
Jyoti smiled. "Thanks, Nehal. Tum bas 0.3 percent se peeche rahi na? That was close."
Nehal's smile twitched. "Yeah... really close."
Her friend Karan added quickly, "Don't worry, Nehal. Rankings change. Let's see how people actually perform now."
Jay clapped his hands. "All right! Orientation time. Don't mess up, don't faint in the OT, and don't try to flirt with me-I'm taken. Also, if you hear Vijay shout, duck first, apologize later."
Jyoti (whispering): "Yeh dono dost hain? Matlab ek Mr. Serious aur ek stand-up comedian... full range milega mujhe."
Garima: "Tu toh kahaani ban jaayegi is hospital ki."
As Jay handed out schedules, Vijay passed by the door with his clipboard. Everyone straightened.
"Interns, your first real test is tomorrow's early-morning rounds. No excuses, no delays," he said without looking up.
Jyoti whispered, "Mujhe lagta hai yeh soote time bhi clipboard leke ghoomte honge."
Pallavi: "Aur sapne mein interns fail karte honge."
Pranav chuckled under his breath.
Nehal rolled her eyes.
And just like that-the team had formed.
